The North Texas Laryngectomy Society, NTLS, was founded in 2010 with the purpose of supporting survivors of a laryngectomy - removal of the larynx and voice box, although now continues its work in support of ALL those affected by head and neck cancer.
With changes in insurance regulations, more and more cancer patients are left without resources for much needed supplies including tube feeding, suction supplies, voice prostheses. The professional staff caring for this population often provides services for no charge, although the cost of their medical supplies and medications must still be paid. It is only through generous donations that NTLS is able to help these patients with their additional costs. NTLS pays no salaries and is a foundation of volunteers. 100% of proceeds from the Fort Worth Red Dress Gala go toward offsetting costs, allowing patients to focus on survival. |
ABOUT NTLS
NTLS offers financial, educational and emotional support for those affected by head and neck cancer. Help can be provided anytime during active treatment through survivorship.
NTLS support group meetings are held monthly as a means of offering both professional support and education, as well as community support from other survivors. NTLS strives to improve the lives of survivors while raising the bar for what "survivorship" looks like! More information on meetings can be found at our website: www.theNTLS.com.
Every year, NTLS outreach conducts various activities serving to educate patients, physicians, and clinical specialists as well as the general population to support a better understanding of this population and how to best care for their unique medical concerns. Additionally, NTLS has provided both scholarships and textbooks to those clinicians interested in learning more about this unique population. This year, NTLS was able to offer research funding for dysphagia within the head and neck population.
Every year, NTLS donates thousands of dollars to help offset the financial burden facing head and neck cancer patients. In addition, NTLS is able to directly distribute medical supplies to those unable to purchase them when insurance does not otherwise provide.
